Meet ROB, the face of accounting automation—designed with client success in mind

The goal for the redesign of the identity for Hein Koning was to better signal the technological advances and ways of working this tax and administration consultancy was adopting. To further bring this message home, Tij Communicatie and ABDC developed a campaign and character to create content and visuals to support that claim.

ROB was the personification of the ‘robotic accounting’ concept that Hein Koning was pioneering.

ROB was presented as the latest employee of Hein Koning, was featured as an employee on the contact us page, and was used as the avatar on social media, as the person posting the messages.

Instead of focusing on the technological side of this approach, we gave it a more human face and character, and we focused all content on the success that the clients of Hein Koning were able to achieve. A line of videos was produced showcasing successful clients of Hein Koning, as interviewed by ROB.

ROB is based on a commercially available robot, but used with some extra facial features to make him more likable and make it possible for him to act and show emotions.

In the end ROB became a symbol for the firm, and became a feature of all the communication.

In 2020 the technologically advanced way of working was so embedded in Hein Koning, and in all its employees, that ROB was not needed as a personification of that ambition, and he was retired.

ROB was based on the UBTECH ALPHA 1 robot and used with permission. The idea was developed by Tij Communicatie and ABDC, all videos and animation and graphics concepted, designed , written and produced by Tij Communicatie and ABDC, between 2015 and 2020.
