How to make art in a world in turmoil? Can / should art become activist? explicit? Should I use it to shine a light on injustice, violence, inequality, etc? There is so much brazen aggressiveness and unfairness in the world it’s hard to not just retreat into your own private life and disconnect.
I love the PEACE NOW posters I see everywhere in Utrecht. But I am too mad at the authoritarian leaders waging war and destruction, and we need more than peace now, we need actions, we need RIOT.
I remade my RIOT piece into a poster, that I distribute for free. Do I think this helps? That this is a worthwhile thing to do? Anything that resists and runs counter to the wave of totalitarianism and violence is worth it and helps.
