This is the third work out of a set of three that came out of a collaboration with artist Cor van der Meijden. Also take a look at number one and two.

In the series Excavation Cor uses found pieces of paper to make collages. By making a monochomaster version I am using found color to make my work. This duo presentation is the first time the Monochromasters have been presented alongside the original artworks on which they are based.

I photographed the original collages in a number of ways with a number of lighting conditions, to establish the exact color I needed to use to get as close to the real median color as possible.

I then made test prints and photographed those to be able to determine which was the right color.

The result was exhibited in KUUB in a duo presentation with Cor van der Meijden.

The idea was to create a complete series of monochromasters to correspond to a complete series of works, to see if the range of monochromasters would work as consistently or coherently as the original series of cllages worked. I love how the range of colors works as a coherent full range:
