Monochromaster Excavated #2

2024
Digital print on passe-partout cardboard
40 x 50 cm

This is the second work out of a set of three that came out of a collaboration with artist Cor van der Meijden. See number one here.

In the series Excavation Cor uses found pieces of paper to make collages. By making a monochomaster version I am using found color to make my work. This duo presentation is the first time the Monochromasters have been presented alongside the original artworks on which they are based.

The #2 collage is the biggest of the three, and is framed in a larger frame. The process of photographing the collage was the same as the others: take several photos in different light, calculate prospective colors, create test prints and photograph those again in different light to determine the right color.

I then made test prints and photographed those to be able to determine which was the right color.

The result was exhibited in KUUB in a duo presentation with Cor van der Meijden.

It was a real thrill to be able to match the monochromaster to the source art work in real life.
