I was inspired by the great conceptual painting of Sigmar Polke “Höhere Wesen befahlen: rechte obere Ecke schwarz malen!” from 1969. I liked the fact that the face in the photo was obscured by the demand. That the photograph started to work differently. That the ideas and questions about inspiration and agency in art were transported to commercial art, fashion, and the idea of the ideal of beauty as personified in the fashion model.
