Eight portraits of Barbara Palvin generated from existing pictures using computer code

Josef Albers was a teacher at Bauhaus and color theorist. He is best known for his “Homage to the Square” series featuring nested squares of varying colors. The many variations in this series explore how different combinations of color affect perception and emotions.

When I saw that most of the Homages have 4 squares I wondered how it would work when used as a mask for a m0dels portrait…

I find it remarkable how the grid almost perfectly aligns with the proportions of the face, showcasing the universal harmony of proportions in the abstract Homage to the Square series and the face of a Victoria Secret model.

I find that I like every version of Homage to the Square, whatever colors are used, in its own way. And in the same way the face of Barbara Palvin is beautiful no matter how you slice it.
